Organizational structure
Maryland Prestigious Secondary School is a subsidiary of Maryland Prestigious International School. The management organogram comprises of the Academic team with the Principal as the head of the team, The Administrative team with the Admin manager as the Head of the team and Academic Support team with the Vice Principal as the head.
Our administrative team, academic team and non-academic teams are managed by experienced and well trained members of staff who work together to achieve our vision and mission
Under the academic team, we have the linguistic department, the science and mathematics, social science and economic departments. An experienced member of staff heads each of this department.
Our Administrative team comprises of general services and bursary unit. They work in synergy with the academic department to achieve sound organization.
Our Support team bridges the gap between the administrative team and academic team. We all work together to secure a future for the Maryland child.
ADMISSION AND ENROLLMENT
Prospective students seeking admission into Junior Secondary classes are expected to attend a minimum score of 70% in each of the subjects. The admission test will be divided into two parts; the oral and the written. Passing the oral test at minimum of 70% is a prerequisite for attempting the written test.
MPIS pupils who have passed Maryland Grade Six Certificate Exams will not be required to write MPSS entrance exams. Candidate who between 69-50% in any two subject will be admitted into the Maryland Secondary Preparatory School (MSPS). Candidates who score below 50% in any one of the above subjects will not be admitted into any secondary program.
All parents including the current MPIS parents are expected to fill and return to the school completed admission forms into Junior Secondary One on or before 20th May for first batch of admission students. Examinations are scheduled for last Saturday of May, June and July. Examination Results will be published by the second week of June, July and August. Successful candidates will be offered admission to either MPSS or MSPS.
MEDICAL CERTIFICATE:
Upon admission, all parents are expected to submit a comprehensive medical report for the student. This must include an immunization report showing the history of all immunization taken by the child.
PAYMENT OF SCHOOL FEES:
A comprehensive fee breakdown is available at MPSS admission office.
All successful candidates are expected to pay an acceptance fees as specified in the fee breakdown to secure their admission.
Fees breakdown will include; acceptance fees, tuition, books, uniforms (including sport wears and cardigan), practical sessions, educational trips and excursions. Parents have the option pay all fees for the year or pay every term. All fees must be paid on or before the resumption date of every term.
Our methods of payment are divided into three categories.
1. At the School Premises – POS, Cheques, Bank draft and Money Orders
2. At the Bank – Cash Deposits, Cheques etc
3. Online – Internet banking Transfers, ATM transfers etc.
UNIFORMS
All uniforms will be supplied by the school except shoes, underwear and socks.
The following uniform quantities are included in the school fees. However parents have the liberty to buy extra pairs of uniform from the school for their wards.
Boys:
1. Two Navy blue flat trousers crested with Maryland logo.
2. One white long sleeves shirt crested with Maryland logo.
3. One short sleeves blue shirt and One short sleeves Yellow shirt all with crested school logo.
4. One long MPIS tie.
5. One T-Shirt with crested Maryland Logo.
6. One pair of Maryland Sport Wear crested with Maryland logo.
7. One Cardigan crested with Maryland logo.

Girls:

BOOKS
The school fees covers the basic academic books, other reference materials like Dictionary, Holy Bible etc can be provided by the parents or guardian.
Academic Curriculum
Academic of Maryland International Secondary School academic system follows the West African Examination Council, (WAEC), National Examination Council (NECO), and International General Certificate in Secondary Education (GCSE) examinations and complies national Universal Basic Education (UBE) Structure.
Our A level student follow the standard specifications for international Examinations including SAT, TOEFL, IELTS, A-Level GCE, O-Level GCE.
School Calendar
A detailed calendar will be made available to the Parents, Guardian and Students every term. This comprises of all the academic and non academic activities during the term including vacation period and mid-term breaks. Parents and Guardians are required to follow school calendar and to respond strictly when needed. All modifications to school calendar will be communicated in good time. All enquiries as regards academic calendar should be sent to the office of the Admin Manager.
Personal Hygiene
Hair:
Boys – Only well trimmed hair cut will be allowed. No Afro, dada or Bob Marley hair style will be allowed at anytime in the school premises.
Girls – Only weaving or plaited hair with natural hair only will be allowed.
Hair should be worn in a simple neat style of natural colour.
Make up: Make ups in all it form will not be tolerated, these include powdering, painting and fixing of nails, face toning, skin pimping etc.
Jewelry: Only leather, fabric or plastic hand watches is allowed. Other jewelry like ear ring, nose ring, lips ring, neglects, leg chains, bangles, finger rings etc will not allowed. Sacramental like Holy Rosary, Crucifix must be simple and has to be approved by the House Mistress or Master prior to using them.
Expected School Items:
Cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, lighter, knives, chemicals, sharp objects, axe, cutlass, weapons in all its forms are strictly prohibited in the school premises.
Only books and writing materials are expected in the student bag at all times
Anyone caught with any of the prohibited items will be expelled from the school with immediate effect.
THE JUNIOR SECONDARY SYSTEM
These are our grade 7 and 8 students usually ranging between the ages of 10 – 12 by September of that school year. At this level of education students are exposed to a wide range of subjects to give them a feel of different areas and to enable them choose a career path in the senior secondary.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS
We have a number of enrichment programs designed to boost the student soft skills in various areas ranging from academic to non-academic.
We have various sport activities spanning from indoor to outdoor games, this include Table and lawn tennis, basketball, football, chess, and music/choir.
Recently, we also established the professional groups take into account some core professions around the world.
In addition to all these, we have club activities spanning across science and technology club, readers club, drama and culture club, music club, social and debate club.EDUCATIONAL TRIPS AND EXCURSIONS
Educational Trips and Excursions is part of our curriculum. We live in a global society and we need to see the outside of the neighborhood we grow up in. Hence; we believe that field trips afford the students an opportunity to learn about their natural environment and experience things first hand and from primary resources, rather than texts; real objects rather than photos.
OPEN DAY
This provides a forum for parents and the school management to interact and fashion out ways to improve on overall performance of the school for the interest of the children. This shall be held once a term, (usually before mid –term break).
PRICE AWARD AND GRADUATION CEREMONIES
Convocation ceremonies at Maryland Prestigious Secondary School shall be organized annually to honour her students and also mark the end of successful academic session. Best performing students in all classes shall be recognized.
SPORTS
MPSS offers varied range of sport activities designed to enhance and extend the curriculum by offering a diverse program through which special talents and interests can be nurtured. Sports and sporting activities will be coordinated by qualified physical and Health Education teachers.
